The Double Bass Studio
Individual lessons concentrate on instrumental technique, Studies , Solo - and Orchestra Repertoire (FUC).  Students of the doublebassclass are encouraged to  develop  secure venues to  their own musical concepts  and professional career.
O
Orchestra Repertoire
In RO - Repertorio Orquestral - we work on the central symphonic repertoire as well as to present them in Mock Auditions, which are held similar to real auditions. There is a basic curriculum of each semester but always room for the students' interest and needs. You also can join this discipline as an option.
o
Literature and Technique
LIT- Literatura e Tecnica do Instrumento - gives an insight view to literature and technique of the instrument. As a complement to the individual lessons, we enlarge our view of repertoire and technique and get in contact with other colleagues from the sting department (1. and 3. Semester).

Methodology and Didactic  MDI - Methodology and Didactic -Instrument  - is scheduled for the  5th semester and introduces to the basis skills of teaching and supervising.

Chamber Music and Ensemble All Students of my  Class are integrated in chamber music projects in form of ensembles which work during the school year.  You might be interested to combine this discipline with a Recording Project as an option. See the current project here

Class Auditions are preformed every last friday of the month.  This allows the students to gain a comfort level of  performing in public, as well as to obtain skills in evaluating themselves and their peers. In addition we have scheduled performance opportunities in the String Department which are recorded professionally and edited in CD.

Masterclasses - Visiting Professor Each School year we have a visiting professor for a Masterclass and Recital.  These Masterclasses are open to all to exernal students and have been an important link to future contacts and careers. Because the new Curriculum does not include this activity, each Masterclass has to be assumed as a Class Project.

The Students Portfolio Students of the class maintain a Performance Portfolio during their course where their activities, experiences, projects and performances are listed. This is a link to profession and and career.

Job and Career
The development in the orchestral landscape in Portugal and abroad places high demands but also new perspectives and opportunities to discover. Each student is encourged to   develop concrete venues to job and carreer according their  assessment and interest. Over the past decade, students of the class have attained a high score of professional integration in orchestra and teaching positions.
º
Quality & Assessment
There is always a high potential to improve or to discover new perspectives to practice and performance.Students are asked to participate in the development of certain venues of the course. Beside the semestral instititutional evaluation, we reflect regulary on our work.   In addition , external evaluation are given regulary by visiting professors from other universities.
